The Minister of Forestry and Environment, Barbara Creecy has warned that wild-fires in the Mother City could become a regular occurrence as changes, brought about by climate change, become more apparent.

The Minister paid the Table Mountain National Park a visit, to assess the damage left in the wake of the run-away fires last week.

The Minister’s spokes-person, Albi Modise says the fires destroyed more than 600 hectares of bio-diversity area.

He says authorities should work closer with communities to combat future fires.
