Police in the Western Cape have launched a murder investigation after three people were shot and killed in a suspected targeted attack in Joe Slovo, Milnerton, on Saturday night.

SAPS confirmed that detectives are probing a triple murder following a shooting incident that took place at about 10:30 pm on 21 February 2026 along Freedom Way.

According to police, officers responding to reports of gunfire found a silver Toyota Avanza riddled with bullet holes. Inside the vehicle were the bodies of two adult women, both declared dead at the scene.

A short distance away, officers also discovered the body of a 36-year-old man.

Preliminary information provided to investigators by a family member indicates that the deceased man was previously involved in the taxi industry, while one of the female victims was believed to be his girlfriend.

Police said the motive for the shooting remains unknown, and no arrests have yet been made.

The case has been assigned to Provincial Serious and Violent Crime detectives for further investigation.

SAPS spokesperson Colonel Andrè Traut appealed to members of the public who may have witnessed the incident or who have information that could assist investigators to come forward.

Anyone with information can report it anonymously via Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or through the MySAPS mobile application. Authorities said all information received will be treated with strict confidentiality.
