Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula has encouraged Cape Town taxi drivers to apply for money available in the Taxi Relief Fund.

He did a walk-a-bout at the Cape Town station this morning. R1.1 billion is available in the Taxi Relief Fund. Mbalula says at least 20% of taxi drivers -particularly long-distance drivers – had a total loss of income during the Covid-19 pandemic. He added that to date taxi drivers have been slow to apply for the funds.
