There’s a strong security presence outside the Free State High Court in Bloemfontein, where suspended ANC secretary-general Ace Magashule is due to appear, in the asbestos corruption case.

Published on

Magashule and his fellow trialists are accused of allegedly defrauding the Free State government of R255 million through an asbestos roof removal contract. The state is seeking to recover R300 million.

Meanwhile, the State Security Agency, the DA, and the Free State Development Corporation have all raised security concerns ahead of Magashule’s court appearance. The Police and the Defence Force have deployed thousands of officers to maintain security outside the court building.
