Residents in the Macassar area were woken up late last night by an explosion. Photos by the Western Cape Traffic Centre show a huge fireball in the sky over the factory. Speaking on behalf of the Greater Macassar Civic Association, former ward councillor Rhoda Ann Brazier, says she rushed to the scene.

In 2018, an explosion at the Denel Munitions facility killed 8 people. The second part of an official inquiry into that blast began in mid-October.
