Theatre Buzz – Shakespeare Schools Festival

Published on

In your Theatre buzz I want to highlight the Shakespeare Schools Festival!

Now of course we all know that Shakespeare had some of the most incredible body’s of work, and to see youngsters take on some of those plays is absolutely  awe inspiring.

The Festival is an additional education program aimed at improving language and social skills through the performing arts. It was conceptualized in 2010 with the  objective of revealing the link between the arts and education. Each year the festival encourages schools to perform abridged ’30 min’ versions of Shakespearean plays in local professional theaters. I have personally seen some of these youngsters perform excerpts of Shakespearean plays and it is something to behold. What is great about this festival is that it’s non-competitive, providing a platform of equal opportunity where there are no boundaries to participation.

Make a note, it starts off on the 13th of May at the Baxter Theatre Centre.

Go out and support these incredible youngsters, they will have you captivated that’s for sure.

R90 gets you through the door.
