The World has docked at the Cape Town Cruise Terminal. This signifies the official opening of the Mother City’s 2025/26 cruise season.

 

 

“Cruise season is always a highlight for us at the V&A Waterfront as it showcases Cape Town to the world,” says David Green, CEO of the V&A Waterfront.

The World will be here from 9 – 12 September, to mark the start of the summer season. In the following months, more than 70 vessels are scheduled to drop anchor at the Cape Town Cruise Terminal.

 

Green added, “Every vessel that docks here brings visitors eager to explore the city and our neighbourhood, while also supporting our retail, hospitality, and cultural offerings.

 

Cruise Terminal: Top international liners en route

 

This includes major international liners such as the Queen Mary 2, MS Europa, MSC Magnifica and domestically, MSC Opera. The upcoming season is expected to generate wide economic benefits, particularly for Cape Town’s tourism, hospitality, and retail sectors.

“It also serves as a reminder of the important role cruise tourism plays in strengthening the local economy,” concluded Green.

 

The terminal also boasts with some international recognition. It was recently ranked 12th among the world’s most beautiful cruise ports in a global study by travel insurance specialist, All Clear.
