The Western Cape transport department has urged parents to check the operating licences of scholar transport after it emerged that the driver of the taxi which crashed outside Parliament was allegedly unlicensed.

Western Cape Transport MEC Daylin Mitchell says the 16-seater taxi was transporting 20 pupils and two adults when it crashed into one of the steel bollards outside Parliament on Friday morning. Some of the pupils are still in the hospital.
