The Western Cape has officially exited the fourth wave of the covid-19 pandemic

Published on

The Western Cape has officially exited the fourth wave of the covid-19 pandemic.

Premier Alan Winde, in a press statement released earlier today, said province’s new case numbers have now dipped below 600 new cases (based on a 7-day moving average).

The number of new cases per day, based on a 7-day-moving average, is now 588.

Winde says the decrease in deaths and hospital admissions, recorded during the fourth wave – coupled with the increased rates of protection among residents – shows that the virus is reaching an endemic stage.
