The South African Broadcasting Corporation says more than 600 of its employees will lose their jobs at the end of this month. The public broadcaster says 621 employees that are set to leave the company at the end of March. The SABC says 346 employees opted for severance packages while another 275 employees were made redundant.

The Department of Home Affairs announced that it has extended the validity period of legally issued visas, which expired during the lockdown period. The extension applies to short-term visas, issued for a period not longer than 90 days, which will now be valid until 30 June 2021. The validity of longer-term temporary visas (issued for a period of three months to three years) has been extended to 31 July 2021.

Cape Town traffic authorities say they have impounded more than 600 vehicles, over the past three weeks, for contraventions of the road-traffic rules.
