The National Institute for Communicable Diseases says the country has exited the third wave of the covid-19 pandemic, according to the current definition.

This as the national 7-day moving average of daily case numbers, positivity rate and testing rate continue to decrease, with sustained decreases seen in all provinces. According to the WHO, when the positivity rate is lower than 5% for at least 2 weeks, that’s an indication that the pandemic is under control.

Over the latest 24-hour monitoring period, 967 new cases were identified. The increase represents a 5% positivity rate. A further 51 deaths have been reported, taking total fatalities to 87 052. So far, more than 17 million tests have been conducted in both the public and private sectors.
