The IEC also fired a presiding officer in Limpopo after he agreed with party agents to open a ballot box. The commission has also vehemently defended its faulty Voter Management Devices (VMDs) notwithstanding the fact that more than 65 000 voters were initially reportedly affected by the device’s inefficiencies. After investigation, it was understood that the number of affected voters was actually 32 000.
