The department of health says a total of 17 421 new Covid-19 cases has been recorded in the country, in the latest 24-hour monitoring period. Another 339 deaths have also been reported, taking the death toll to 33,163. So far, more than 966 000 people have recovered which is a rate is 78,4%. Most of the new deaths were in the Western Cape, the Eastern Cape, and KwaZuluNatal. KwaZulu-Natal currently has the most active cases, followed by the Western Cape and Gauteng.
