The department of health says 1 742 new covid-19 related cases have been reported in the country, in the latest 24-hour monitoring period. Active cases in the country now stands on 65 137. Most of the active cases are in KwaZulu-Natal, followed by die Western Cape and the Free State. Another 396 deaths have been recorded with the death toll now at 46 869. The recovery rate in the country remains at 92%.
