The covid-19 death toll has surpassed the 53 000 mark, after another 37 people have succumbed to the respiratory illness, in the latest 24-hour monitoring period. At the same time, 437 new cases of the virus were also confirmed in the country. The death toll now stands at 53 032. So far, more than 272 000 health workers have been vaccinated against the virus.
