The Cape Town SVNS tournament is back in town and you are invited to be part of history and to attend the biggest party in town this weekend.

 

“Cape Town once again sets the stage for excitement on and off the field,” says the Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security, Alderman JP Smith.

The HSBC SVNS rugby makes a return to the Mother City, so expect 2 days of thrilling action, music performances and a summer party vibe.

At the same time, the Cape Town SVNS plans to make history by attempting to break the world record attempt for the largest-ever Amapiano dance-off at a rugby match.

 

Smith added, ” I encourage ticket holders to plan their days and routes to the stadium.”

Attempt to break the world record attempt

 

The attempt will be led by the two-time world hip-hop champions, Cape Town’s own Street Stylers.

 

“It’s one of our premier events and we want to make sure everyone enjoys it to the fullest,” said Smith.

 

Fans are encouraged to dress up and be part of the “Amapiano #NoDNA JustRSA” dance on Sunday, 8 December 2024.

The Cape Town SVNS is more than just a rugby tournament. It has become a vibrant festival and celebrates sports, music and an all-round good time. In its 9th Year, Amapiano will take centre stage with two of the popular music genre’s biggest stars – Tyler ICU and Kamo Mphela – set to headline the Cape Town SVNS.  Along with DJ Ready D, Roger Goode, Neon Dreams and Gremlin, they will light up the rugby festival on 7 and 8 December. There will also be other performances including acrobatic motorcycles, dancers and more.

 

Getting to DHL Stadium

 

You are being warned that several roads in and around the Green Point Precinct will be closed due to the hosting of the Rugby Spectacular. This will result in traffic congestion. Attendees are invited to use the free MyCiTi shuttle to the stadium.  SVNS ticket holders can get on the bus for free from the Civic Centre, Thibault Square and CTICC. This is for Saturday and Sunday.

 

Where to Park

 

You can find parking at the CTICC (paid parking), the Civic Centre and on-street parking. the Civic Centre will open its 475 parking bays for ticketed rugby fans on a first-come, first-served basis. These parking spaces will be available from 07:30. It is accessible from Hertzog Boulevard incoming and on Civic Road.

 

DON’T FORGET: The Blitzboks will play their first game at 11:44 on Saturday against Ireland. They will also close the show for the day with a mouth-watering clash against Argentina at 18:41.

 

 

In conclusion, “Residents and commuters who usually make use of roads in the area are also advised to take note of closures.”
