The Automobile Association has called on the Minister of Transport, Fikile Mbalula to halt and repeal the implementation of the AARTO Act.

The AA has expressed concern following the termination of the contract of the CEO of the Road Traffic Management Agency, Japh Chuwe last month, on allegations of maladministration, following an independent forensic investigation. AA spokesperson Layton Beard says Chuwe has failed. AARTO is currently only implemented in Tshwane and Johannesburg, but the aim is to roll it out countrywide.
