Tavern violence: death roll rises, 2 arrested for killings

The death toll following the massacre at the Nomzamo Tavern in Soweto has risen to 16 after another victim died while being treated in hospital. Meanwhile: 2 people have been arrested in connection with the killing of 4 people and wounding of 8 others at a  tavern in Pietermaritzburg, also at the weekend.

At the same time: Gauteng Police have confirmed that 1 person has been shot dead yesterday, at Monaco tavern in Mamelodi, Pretoria. 3 suspects, wearing balaclavas and armed with pistols arrived at the venue, approached a 33-year-old man and shot him twice.
