Table Mountain has been announced by the World Travel Awards as Africa’s Leading Tourist Attraction for 2021.

“This award could not have been announced at a better time,” said Wahida Parker, managing director of Table Mountain Aerial Cableway Company (TMACC) “As South Africa is finally removed from the UK’s Covid-19 travel red list, we can definitely expect to see more tourists, from all over the world, coming to experience Africa’s leading tourist attraction.”

Parker also saluted and thanked TMACC’s fellow contenders for Africa’s Leading Tourist Attraction 2021: Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania; the Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania; Egypt’s Pyramids of Giza; and two fellow Cape Town Big Six attractions – Robben Island and the V&A Waterfront.

In addition to being named Africa’s Leading Tourist Attraction in the World Travel Awards , TMACC has also been nominated as the World’s Leading Cable Car Ride for 2021.

The other contenders in this category are: Bondinho Pão de Açúcar in Brazil; the Cable Car at Sun World Ba Na Hills in Vietnam; the Disney Skyliner Cable Car in the United States; Mi Teleférico in Bolivia; PEAK 2 PEAK 360 in Canada; New Zealand’s Skyline Queenstown; and Wings of Tatev in Armenia.

“We are one of only three rotating cable cars and our impeccable safety track record should stand us in good stead to bring the award home,” said Parker of this nomination.

Further, Table Mountain is also in the running for World’s Leading Tourist Attraction.
