Stage 2 load shedding has been suspended at 05:00 this morning (Tuesday) but energy supply is expected to remain constrained all week, with the possibility of further load shedding.

The power utility implemented Stage 2 load shedding yesterday afternoon, after Unit 5 of Medupi Power Station tripped, taking some 700 MW capacity with it. The announcement followed an earlier warning that load shedding may have to be implemented at short notice after a number of generating breakdowns.
