South African Breweries has announced the further cancellation of investment into the country’s economy. SAB says it has now decided to cancel the R2.5 billion of capital investment, following the third ban on liquor-sales. This brings the brewer’s cancelled capital expenditure in the country, since the alcohol sales bans were introduced in 2020, to a total of R5 billion. In August 2020, SAB announced the cancellation of R2.5 billion worth of South African investments.
