The 2022 Commonwealth Games have been good for team South Africa. They have kept the medals dripping in. While they’re nowhere near the totals of Australia (71), the total of 12 for South Africa is still a respectable number.
Team South Africa has the goal of improving on the haul of 36 medals at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. While it will take quite an effort to get there, Team South Africa has great representation in the finals of the respective events.
Here’s who will vie for silverware today;
On the Lawn Bowls green, the foursome of Thabelo Muvhango (Lead), Bridget Calitz (Second), Esme Kruger (Third) and Johanna Snyman (Skip) will be assured of a medal. They will play India in the Women’s Fours Gold Medal match from 12h45.
In the Weightlifting arena, 31-year-old Ruben Burger will have a proper test of strength in the final men’s 96kg event at 15h00.
Around the same time, at 15h05, in the Artistic Gymnastics arena, Shante Koti will feature in the Women’s Balance Beam final. That final will be followed by the Women’s floor Exercise final, where Naveen Daries will compete for silverware from 16h40.
Koti and Daries helped South Africa to a 4th place finish in the team final.
