The Cape Town Cycle Tour, renowned as the largest timed bike race in the world, is gearing up for its 47th edition with the announcement of new partnerships with Standard Bank and Liberty.

Organisers say this collaboration marks a significant step forward, reflecting a shared commitment to community upliftment and a passion for cycling.

David Bellairs, Director of the Cape Town Cycle Tour Trust, has expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, emphasizing the event’s focus on investing in local communities.

“We are incredibly excited to announce our new partnership with Standard Bank and Liberty. As an event that prioritizes community returns, it’s a natural fit to align with two of South Africa’s leading finance brands. This partnership will enhance our charitable efforts through the Pedal Power Association and the Rotary Club of Claremont.”

Standard Bank has reiterated its strategic intent to support community growth in the Western Cape. Bonga Sebesho, Group Head of Sponsorships at Standard Bank, highlighted the synergy between the bank’s values and the tour.

“We’re thrilled to join forces with the Cape Town Cycle Tour. This collaboration allows us to enhance our commitment to communities while supporting an iconic event that combines athletic excellence with social impact. Cycling is increasingly popular, and many of our clients are active participants. The tour’s proven track record aligns perfectly with our goal of fostering growth and creating sustainable value in our communities.”

Liberty is equally proud to partner with the tour, aiming to uplift the communities of the Cape Peninsula. Marees Bostander, Head of Brand Strategy and Sponsorships at Liberty, stated, “As an organization committed to humanity, we see this as an opportunity to be ‘InItWith’ all the cyclists and the communities benefiting from this initiative. We recognize the shared commitment to supporting community well-being.”

Set to take place on Sunday, March 9, 2025, the Cape Town Cycle Tour is a highly anticipated event on the South African sporting calendar.

It offers an opportunity for cyclists of all levels to experience the stunning beauty of Cape Town while contributing to local community development. General entries for both the 109km and 42km races have now opened.

Organisers say as the Cape Town Cycle Tour prepares for its upcoming event, the new partnerships with Standard Bank and Liberty promise to enhance its impact and further its mission of community upliftment through the sport of cycling.
