Serena Williams reveals baby bump at Met Gala

Retired tennis star, Serena Williams debuted her baby bump on the red carpet at the Met Gala in New York on Monday. She first revealed that she and her husband Alexis Ohanian are expecting their second child via Instagram. And honestly, the those red carpet looks came nowhere close to outshining this wonderful news.

On social media, Williams was seen posing in a black and white gown with her hubby – who is the founder of Reddit – cradling her baby bump. “Was so excited when Anna Wintour invited the 3 of us to the Met Gala,” she captioned the post before arriving at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

 

 

Before Serena left the tennis world last year, the Olympic Gold medalist penned an essay for Vogue. In it, she explains her decision to step away from sports and focus on her family:

Believe me, I never wanted to have to choose between tennis and a family. I don’t think it’s fair

 

 

Williams and Ohanian are already parents to Olympia, who was born in September 2017. Serena was two months pregnant with her daughter when she won the Australian Open in 2017. Further in the Vogue essay, Serena writes that for the longest time, her daughter wanted a younger sibling:

Olympia says this a lot, even when she knows I’m listening. Sometimes before bed, she prays to Jehovah to bring her a baby sister. (She doesn’t want anything to do with a boy!) I’m the youngest of five sisters myself, and my sisters are my heroes, so this has felt like a moment I need to listen very carefully to

Serena Williams was not the only celeb who launched their pregnancy at the Met Gala. Model, Karlie Kloss, revealed that she and her husband, Joshua Kushner are expecting their second child. They are parents to Levi Joseph who was born in March 2021.
