A Seafood and Jazz festival will be held this weekend, on Saturday, 28 February 2026, in Cape Town. The Lucky Fish Cape Derby Seafood & Jazz Festival takes place at the Kenilworth Racecourse. The organisers say you can expect fresh seafood to be paired with smooth live jazz music.

Guests will also experience top-class racing alongside the ocean’s finest flavours. People who are interested in attending will discover a variety of food stands serving a selection of seafood dishes that celebrate the Cape’s coastal heritage. You can pair your meal with a chilled drink, meet fellow racegoers, and take in the lively yet relaxed atmosphere under open summer skies.

Gates open at 11:00, offering a full day of entertainment that appeals to racing fans, food lovers, and families.

 

RACING: The main event on the track is the Gr 1 Lucky Fish Cape Derby. As one of the most prestigious races of the year, it draws a high-calibre field and provides a thrilling spectacle for everyone in attendance. The racing schedule runs throughout the afternoon, ensuring there is plenty of action to watch between pitstops to delicious seafood food trucks and market vendors.

 

FOOD: Food is a central part of the day. There is a focus on fresh, local seafood. A wide variety of vendors will also be serving everything from traditional favourites to contemporary dishes. All this is focussed oncelebrating the rich flavours of the Cape.

SAFE & SUPERVISED KIDS’ ZONE: The organisers have ensured the event is family-friendly.
