South Africa’s superfan “Mama Joy” has announced her engagement to her French fiance Nicolas Pitaud, also known in SA as “Papa Joy.”

The couple reportedly got engaged hours after the Springboks vs New Zealand 2024 Castle Lager Rugby Championship game in Cape Town on Saturday.

Following the 18 – 12 win by the Boks, Pitaud seemingly popped the big question while on a raundevoux with Mama Joy at Cape Point. Chauke gave SA fans back-to-back updates to celebrate her engagement.

Her announcement was met with a flurry of comments from fans wishing her well on this new chapter of her life.

Chauke and Pitaud’s engagement follows her short trip to France a few months ago to visit Pitaud’s family. During her trip, she was gifted a gold ring from Pitaud’s mother as “a symbol of her acceptance into the family”.
