SA has recorded the most single-day deaths, due to covid-19. This after 806 people succumbed in the past 24-hour period. The previous high was 755 deaths, recorded a day earlier, on the 12th of January. In the past 2 days alone, 1 561 people have died from the virus. The national death toll now stands at 35 140.
