ROADSIDE ‘ROOSTERBROOD’ MASTER, AUNT POPPIE, NEEDS YOUR HELP

Published on

The 63-year-old Aunt Poppie van As, who sells “roosterbrood” along the N1 at Laingsburg, needs your help. This after a cyclist was forced to stop six years ago when he smelled her roosterbrood.

Stan Engelbrecht says he couldn’t help stopping when he smelled Aunt Poppie’s delicacy along the way. The two soon became friends and Stan asked Poppie to make roosterbrood for participants in a bike race he was organizing. Then there was an invitation by Italian representatives of the popular bike tour and now Poppie is looking for pocket money.

Her goal is to raise R100 000. Poppie’s adventure will also be turned into a documentary film. You can help by visiting backabuddy.co.za.
