Rihanna + 1 steals the show at Met Gala

Published on

It was tailoring with a twist at this year’s Met Gala, as fashion’s biggest night paid homage to Black history and style under the theme “Tailored for You”. Inspired by the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute exhibition Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, the dress code celebrated Black dandyism.

But no amount of creative suiting could outshine the moment the internet lives for: Rihanna’s baby bump reveal.

Wearing a Marc Jacobs ensemble featuring a corseted bodice, jacket-skirt hybrid, and a maroon polka-dot tie, she made her grand return to the Met steps for the first time since 2021. She’s expecting her third child with A$AP Rocky, who just so happened to be one of this year’s co-chairs.

South African singer Tyla returned to the gala this year wearing a pinstriped Jacquemus gown with hand-stitched detailing.

Joining Rocky on co-chair duties were Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, Pharrell Williams and, of course, Vogue’s Anna Wintour.

Domingo wore a Willy Chavarria suit consisting of a bright white jacket with structured shoulders and a sweeping cape to the floor, and black wide-leg pants.

Hamilton was one of the first on the red carpet wearing an ivory suit with a cropped jacket, high-waisted trousers with a tuxedo stripe, coattails, a white bow tie, and an embroidered ivory sash. He was dressed by Grace Wales Bonner.

Williams wore a custom Louis Vuitton suit featuring a jacket adorned with 100,000 pearls.

Pharrell also took time out to dress Wintour in a floor-length baby blue coat he designed for Louis Vuitton.
