The City of Cape Town has advised that construction work along AZ Berman Drive for its MyCiTi Phase 2A project will take place at night from Monday, 14 September.

The work will commence on the road between Ndluli Street and Wespoort Road. Work is anticipated to take place from 19:00 to 05:00 the following morning, from Monday to Saturday.

Residents near there can expect construction-related noise.

“Some construction-related noise may occur during these hours,” read the City’s statement.  

The City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Rob Quintas, said the work will likely continue until 14 December, “if all goes according to plan”. 

Quintas noted that motorists can expect traffic flow changes along AZ Berman Drive during this time, with traffic personnel and signage to guide motorists through the construction area.  

“These improvements are aimed at enhancing our road network and preparing this corridor for expanded MyCiTi services, which allows us to provide better public transport and travel conditions for the residents of Mitchells Plain to keep Cape Town moving day after day. I would like to thank residents, businesses and commuters for their continued patience as some construction-related noise may occur over the next few months,” said Quintas.
