The City of Cape Town is in the process of reducing the number of staff at all of their offices to 60% to comply with the social distancing that is required during this time.
“The City is doing all it can to protect its employees, and residents visiting our offices across Cape Town.
We are in the midst of an unprecedented period that calls for greater awareness and interventions.
Customer offices will remain open, however, the City is reducing the number of employees at our facilities and offices to limit contact between staff. We are also prioritising queries related to essential services and given the nature of these inquiries, some personnel are required to work from the office.
It is incumbent upon all City staff to support the national effort to reduce infections, and to maintain a physical distance of at least a metre from each other and any customer or visitor they are engaging with. All staff are constantly reminded to practice excellent personal hygiene, including regular hand washing, and sensible respiratory etiquette in the workplace and at home.
We implore residents to, where possible, conduct their business online, rather than visiting the City’s Customer offices.”
Residents are encouraged to submit service requests using the following channels:
• Call 0860 103 089 (choose option 1 for solid waste and option 2 for water-related matters)
• For water matters, please email water@capetown.gov.za, or SMS 31373 (max of 160 characters)
• Online on www.capetown.gov.za, click on City Connect and choose the applicable need – be it to report a fault, or request a service
Municipal courts
The municipal courts will remain open and functional. However, access to court buildings is restricted to comply with the social distancing requirement.
The public is reminded that fines and warrants still need to be paid, and encourage those who need to, to make online payments at www.paycity.co.za if possible.
