Ramaphosa “hatching a plan” with other African presidents to save the country’s Covid-19 vaccine plant

Published on

President Cyril Ramaphosa is “hatching a plan” with three other African presidents to save South Africa’s Aspen Covid-19 vaccine plant. Ramaphosa says he has spoken to his counterparts from some of the biggest economies on the continent to start purchasing their vaccines from the plant which, according to its senior director, Stavros Nicolaou, had not received a single order for its Aspenovax vaccine.
The Health Minister Dr Joe Phaahla has extended the period for public comments on health regulations on how to manage a pandemic in the future, by 3 months. The new closing date for submission of comments is 5 July.
