President Cyril Ramaphosa says South Africa will use its virtual presence at the United Nations General Assembly to advocate for Africa to have a permanent representation on the UN Security Council.
The UN is currently meeting in New York for its 75th General Assembly.
Topics under discussion over several days include the Covid-19 pandemic, racism, inequality, climate change and poverty.
Ramaphosa, who addressed the assembly yesterday, says an inclusive future should be built for all the world’s citizens:
For Africa, the path we must take is clear. The @UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is our lodestar for transforming our world, and the template for global cooperation and partnership. We must ensure that no country is left behind. #SDGMoment #UNGA75 #UNGA pic.twitter.com/lhZ1iz152Y

Ramaphosa dedicated his weekly newsletter to the 75th UN General Assembly:
To resolve our global challenges – be they health emergencies, transnational crime, conflict & war, climate change, or natural disasters – we must work together. It is only through multilateralism that we can forge common strategies for the benefit of all. https://t.co/GH2XnMqIEI pic.twitter.com/cONtTiSN0j
