A 48-year-old man will appear in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court today on charges of murder and attempted murder, after he allegedly attacked multiple people along Koeberg Road in Milnerton with a pair of scissors on April 23.
Zuaib Williams allegedly went on a random stabbing spree, resulting in two deaths, while two others were injured.
He was reportedly chased down by the community, and they held him until police arrived.
He appeared in court on April 25, and it was postponed until Friday, May 9th, so that a state doctor could be appointed to examine him.
Netwerk24 spoke to a Ravensmead woman who was on the scene, who says she tried to save the life of one of the victims.
Amy Lott, who works at Hyundai Milnerton, told the publication that she was still assisting a client when her colleague screamed: “Someone’s been stabbed!”
Lott recounted how she and other bystanders tried to assist Kobus Aggenbacht, who had been stabbed in the head, to keep breathing while they waited for paramedics to arrive.
Aggenbacht, the owner of Pro Carwash, was reportedly stabbed near Mike’s Kitchen on Koeberg Road.
The second victim, Amanda Jonker, was stabbed near the Cash Crusaders store. She was stabbed in the neck and liver. It appears this is where the man started his stabbing frenzy.
West Coast Fisheries Milnerton confirmed on Facebook that its operations manager, Marianne, was also injured in the attack. She is currently recuperating after receiving medical attention.
“At this stage, we do not have all the facts — what we do know is that this was an isolated incident that began outside Cash Crusaders near Centre Point, and not a targeted attack on our store or Pro Car Wash. Unfortunately, the situation escalated onto our premises, involving one of our staff members when she politely asked the individual to move away from our store.”
Milnerton police say that after his stabbing spree on Koeberg Road, the suspect then moved down to Bosmansdam Road, where he attacked another man. The victim ran to the police station and reported the incident.
