PICS: City lights up landmarks in honour of Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu

The City of Cape Town is lighting up iconic local landmarks, Table Mountain and the City Hall in purple in honour of Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu this week.

Purple is a colour synonymous with Tutu.

The Arch, as he was lovingly known, died on 26 December 2021. His funeral is on Saturday 1 January at St George’s Cathedral. Members of the public will be able to pay their respects on Friday, while he lies in state at the Cathedral. Covid-19 protocols will be followed.
