Payday has finally arrived! Many of last last got our salaries on the 16th of December 2022 so it’s been about 40 days since we’ve seen some kind of payment into our accounts. If you take into account how much we spend over the festive season, January really is a tough month.
South Africans are cutting back to save till the next payday
Consumer credit reporting agency TransUnion says that South Africans have significantly cut back on on ‘unnecessary’ spending like dining out, travel and entertainment in the past three months.

The Smile Breakfast team asked our listeners to call in and tell us about the stingiest behaviour they’ve ever done or witnessed.
