Oscars 2026: One Battle after Another wins best film as Michael B. Jordan and Jessie Buckley take top acting honours

One Battle after Another emerged as the biggest winner at this year’s Academy Awards, taking home the coveted Best Picture award along with several other major honours.

 

Directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, the film also won Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay, cementing its status as the standout production of the night.

 

In the acting categories, Michael B. Jordan won Best Actor for his performance in Sinners, while Jessie Buckley took home Best Actress for her role in Hamnet.

 

Veteran actor Sean Penn secured Best Supporting Actor for One Battle after Another, and Amy Madigan won Best Supporting Actress for Weapons.

 

Ryan Coogler’s Sinners also had a strong showing, winning Best Cinematography and Best Original Score by Ludwig Göransson, as well as Best Original Screenplay for Ryan Coogler.

 

Meanwhile, Frankenstein dominated several technical categories, including Costume Design, Makeup and Hairstyling, and Production Design.

 

In the animation category, KPop Demon Hunters won Best Animated Feature Film and also picked up Best Original Song for Golden. The international feature film award went to Norway’s Sentimental Value.

 

Other notable winners included F1 for Best Sound and Avatar: Fire and Ash for Best Visual Effects.

 

The awards ceremony celebrated a wide range of films, from blockbuster spectacles to independent dramas, highlighting another diverse year for the global film industry.
