In yet another massive drug bust, provincial traffic officers seized dagga weighing one tonne on the N1.
Officers stopped and searched a a truck on its way to Cape Town from Durban, last week, when inspectors came across 22 large bags of compressed dagga, with a street value over R9 million.
The driver of the truck was arrested and detained at the South African Police Service (SAPS) station in Beaufort West.
In another incident in the Central Karoo, inspectors stopped a mini-bus during a Public Transport Operation and detected a strong smell of dagga coming from the trailer. A search of the vehicle revealed 15 small packs of compressed dagga, weighing 13kg.
The driver, who had been on his way to Cape Town from the Eastern Cape, was arrested and detained at Beaufort West.
There has been a string of successful drug busts over the last few weeks.
Earlier this week, officers discovered R84 million worth of cocaine that in Airport Industria.
Bishop Lavis police detectives followed up on information received on Tuesday, which led them to a business premises.
Metro police sniffer dog Khalesi dog aided the operation, uncovering 140 sealed bricks of cocaine, stacked inside a container.
Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis rewarded Khalesi with a special treat, for her role in securing the drug bust.

In another drug bust a 60-year-old man was apprehended at the Klawer weighbridge over the weekend.
Police responded to a tip-off regarding a silver Jaguar vehicle who was transporting another car on a trailer.
Upon their interception, they found 53 bags of what’s believed to be heroin. The drugs are valued around R3,7 million.
