Cape Town police maintain that no foul play is being suspected, following the discovery of a dead Bellville woman, who was reported missing at the weekend.

52-year-old Chantal Pelser’s corpse was discovered in a hotel, on Wednesday, three days after she was last seen driving her silver Hyundai i10 in the streets of the Bo-Kaap.

Detectives were apparently led to the accommodation facility, after they tracked her banking activity. Provincial police spokesperson Frederick Van Wyk confirmed that an autopsy will be carried out to determine Pelser’s exact cause of demise.

“It can be confirmed that the missing 52-year-old Chantal Pelser, was found deceased in a place of accommodation in Cape Town on (Wednesday, 2025-05-28). No foul play is suspected. A post-mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death,” said Van Wyk.
