New platform to help feed needy families launched

Published on

A newly-launched platform, One Farm Share, will ensure that more South Africans, negatively affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, will get food on their tables.

The platform was officially launched earlier this week, in collaboration with Food Forward SA and AgriTech pioneers, Hello Choice.

One Farm Share connects farmers with registered charity organisations, to assist feeding programmes in vulnerable communities.

Managing Director at Food Forward SA, Andy du Plessis  says the initiative has, to date, provided more than 830,000 meals to vulnerable families.

He says a network of more than a thousand charities will benefit from the platform.

Small-scale farmers and others, who want to help, are encouraged to join the One Farm Share platform.

Du Plessis says more than a thousand farmers have already joined the initiative.
