More arrests expected for Babita Deokaran’s murder

The Hawks say more people are expected to be arrested for the murder of Babita Deokaran.

Six men earlier today appeared in curt in Johannesburg in connection with Deokaran’s murder.

They have been charged with murder, attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and possession of an unlicenced firearm and ammunition.

A Hawks-spokesperson said more people would be arrested for the murder.

Deokaran, a witness for the Special Investigating Unit, was shot outside her home in Johannesburg last Monday, and later died in hospital.

The 6 suspects are due back in court on 13 September for a bail application.
