We’ve teamed up with our friends at Delta Airlines who have flown the Ryan O’Connor Breakfast Show team all the way to Memphis, Tennessee. With a direct flight to Atlanta followed by quick connecting flight, and we’re in the land of the delta blues.

The Central Station Memphis

We’re staying at a hotel steeped in history with the charm of the rich music culture of Memphis. The Central Station building has stood on South Main Street in downtown Memphis for more than 100 years. Originally built for rail arrivals and departures, the South Main railway line still serves the city behind the hotel. All the rooms, the bar, and lobby are kitted out with speakers and music memorabilia with a daily playlist that gives you an authentic Memphis music experience.

Southern Hospitality and Soul Food

Memphis serves as a great example for good ol’ Southern hospitality and the food is really good for the soul. Everyone has made us feel welcome and our friends at Memphis Tourism made sure we’ll experience everything there is to see in this beautiful city. Food culture is a massive attraction this side of the world and we’re on the hunt for the best BBQ in the south. But you can’t start a hunt for the best BBQ without a breakfast of champions. We visited the oldest cafe in Memphis – The Arcade Restaurant.

Teaching some Memphians about South Africa

As we take in the sights and sounds of Memphis, we also took the opportunity to test locals on what they might know about South Africa. Let’s just say that they might not have been informed about certain South African words, we were very entertained.
