Law enforcement officials have their hands full this morning, after wild protests erupted, in the Nyanga area, including Gugulethu and Philippi. According to an un-confirmed WhatsApp message, received by Smile FM, it’s believed the demonstration is linked to taxi operators being dissatisfied with a joint operation, that saw more than 20 illegal taxis impounded last week. But this could not be confirmed by the authorities. Kevin Jacobs from Cape Town Traffic Services has asked motorists to use alternative routes.
UPDATE: The bus company, Golden Arrow has confirmed that one of its buses has been torched. The N2 Inbound is closed due to the violence.
