President Cyril Ramaphosa says, in the wake of Covid-19 reaching South Africa more than a year ago, it is now even more important for South Africans to be aware of and celebrate their basic human rights.
The President was addressing the nation on Sunday, during Human Rights Day commemorations, and says the virus revealed the stark realities of the inequalities many South Africans still face on a daily basis.
Ramaposa says Covid-19 virus has forever changed the country’s social and economic landscape.
He lauded South Africans for the resilience and courage they have shown over the past year.
The President says South Africans had to sacrifice many things over the past year.
He urged South Africans to continue working together for the greater good of all.
Ramaphosa says, as the country is now entering its recovery and rebuilding phase, compassion among one another will help the country heal quicker in a post-Covid-19 world.
