The Western Cape Transport department says leadership battles within the province’s two major taxi-unions are contributing to the escalating taxi-violence.

Chief-director at the Western Cape Transport department, Yasir Ahmed ays 159 people have been arrested, since 2018, for taxi-related violence.

Since January 2018, 24 murders and 29 injuries have been reported here, that are directly linked to the taxi-unrest.
