Journey to Jazz Festival brightens up the Karoo

Published on

Nuzzled beneath the Swartberg mountains, Prince Albert has become a creative and culinary destination. In early May, the renowned Journey to Jazz festival will cement this reputation with a variety of festivities and superb music.

The Journey to Jazz Festival takes place from Wednesday, May 3, until Sunday, May 7.

Jazz pouring into Prince Albert

Prince Albert’s main road will be the centre of the action on the Friday and Saturday: with a number of food stalls, restaurants, buskers, painters and so much more. Principal performances will take place in the NG Church on the main road. Be assured the acoustics are comparable to that of some of the best stages around.

Additionally, you can experience the culture on Blues Street, outside the PACT centre in Noordeinde on Saturday.

Tickets are on sale for each performance, with limited weekend passes available. The proceeds will go to PACT to support their daily good works.

For festival goers looking for a more intimate (and exclusive) experience, there will be some lunch/dinner concerts happening at select restaurants in town.

You can find your tickets to the Journey to Jazz festival here on Quicket.

This year’s festival welcomes Brenda Sisane as its Creative Director. Sisane shares her excitement ahead of the festival:

Music, has always found a way to unite people and the jazz genre, specifically, has a knack for storytelling and is a style that is recognised and celebrated throughout the world. International Jazz Day is celebrated annually on 30th April, consequently, the dates for Journey for Jazz of 3-7 May, were chosen with purpose and we can’t wait to share this incredible experience with everyone
