It’s time to dig deep – into your pockets, shocking fuel price increase expected

Published on

From tomorrow, motorists will have to dig deeper into their pockets, with another shocking fuel price increase. 93-octane petrol goes up by R2.37 cents per liter and 95-octane – by R2.57 cents a liter. At midnight, diesel prices will rise by between R2.30 & R2.31 cents per liter, paraffin by R2.21 per liter but LP Gas becomes cheaper by R2.81 cents per kilogram.
Meanwhile: The DA’s proposed Fuel Price Deregulation Bill aims to get fuel retailers to set the price of fuel themselves in the hopes of creating competition. The party introduced the proposed Bill yesterday and says this will benefit motorists as retailers will compete, to win customers – based on prices. The DA’s Kevin Mileham says they plan to publish the proposed Bill in the Government Gazette later this week.
