Interesting operations are afoot at Cape Town Harbour this week. So says a Smile-listener and an avid fan of ships while they are in port, Nevada Timm. He sent some photos of interesting ships berthed in the harbour.

Interesting operations are afoot at Cape Town Harbour
According to Timm, there’s a heavy-lift vessel in port called ‘Transshelf’. The ship is apparently here to load a floating dry dock called ‘TITAN DOCK’ onto it. Timm says he believes that Transshelf will then take Titan dock to the island of Reunion. He says he’s not quite sure on which day this operation will happen.

Timm added that what makes the operation so interesting is that the Transshelf ship submerges, and whatever cargo is loaded will float into position. The Transshelf will then slowly raise itself.
