The host nation, England, ranked 4th in the world will be led by Eoin Morgan, with key players including the world’s second best bowler James Anderson, batsman Joe Root and all-rounder Ben Stokes.
The host nation has the most centurions. Seven England players have reached three figures in ODIs, which is an indication of their strong batting depth.
The Three Lions have yet to win a World Cup, but they have been runners-up three times; in 1979, 1987 and in 1992. England are ranked fifth in Tests, first in ODIs and 2nd in T20Is.
The team and coaching staff faced heavy criticism after their Group Stage exit in the 2015 World Cup, they have since adopted a more aggressive and modern playing style.
The opening fixture of the 2019 tournament is against The Proteas on May 30.
