Hout Bay residents displaced by a fire in the informal settlement of Imizamo Yethu have been left scrambling for shelter due to Covid-19 regulations closing City of Cape Town facilities.

On Sunday, a fire swept through the community, destroying around 80 homes and displacing around 300 people. Gift of the Givers operations manager Ali Sablay says some of the displaced are being accommodated at local creches, schools and churches.
